Shannon Baker currently serves as director of communications and editor of BRN United for the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey. She previously served as director of communications and editor of BaptistLIFE for the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, where she worked nearly 15 years, initially as a correspondent when she and her husband Larry moved to Baltimore as North American Mission Board church planters. During these years, Shannon also served in national roles, including president of the Baptist Communicators Association, president of the Association of State Baptist Publications, and on the Baptist Press coverage team for nearly 20 Southern Baptist Convention annual meetings. Just this past year, Shannon interviewed the current CEO/President of the SBC Executive Committee on stage at the annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif.

She currently is seeking to begin a doctor of ministry degree at Gateway Seminary in Ontario, Calif.

She and her husband Larry, who have two daughters, Lauren and Hannah, served several years at New Hope Community Church in Baltimore, where they were privileged to see God bring many people into His Kingdom. Recently, they started a new church, Anastasis Fellowship Church in Antietam Valley, Pa.

Shannon has traveled all over the world on mission trips and writing assignments. Her goal is to go to every continent… all that is left is South America, Australia and Antarctica!

What are the benefits you hope our churches will receive as a result of your work/role at the BRN?

My prayer is that we capture the stories of what God is doing throughout all of our churches, and in so doing, encourage each one of us on to greater works. I pray ministry leaders will be encouraged, informed and connected to the BRN family because of the stories we tell, no matter the format.
