Hello BRN Family, it’s good to be with you today!

I’m sure you have read the headlines. At least 37 people have been confirmed dead due to devastating flooding that has hit the southeast part of Kentucky in recent days. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams from Kentucky and a number of other states are responding to the emergency as we speak.

Last week, our Disaster Relief director, Kenton Hunt, sent an alert to all of our trained volunteers asking them to pray about their availability to help Kentucky. Now that the storm has occurred, he has put all DR volunteers on stand by and is forming two teams right now.

The first team will serve from Saturday, Aug. 6, to Friday, Aug. 12, at a destination in Eastern Kentucky, near Hazard, which has been in much of the news. Team 2 will arrive in Eastern KY on Saturday, Aug. 13 and return on Friday, Aug. 19.

Kenton is in need of a chaplain and at least 10 trained volunteers to serve in flood clean-up for each week. Simply email him at disasterrelief@brnunited.org to sign up for your preferred week.

Maybe you are not a trained volunteer – yet! You can still make a difference through your prayers and donations to help our local teams have what they need to serve well. Offer your donations at brnunited.org/dr. Every amount helps. Thank you, and God bless you!
