LEHIGH VALLEY, PENNSYLVANIA
WHO
Lehigh County’s Office of Children and Youth Services and the children and families they serve as well as Plesion, a local faith-based nonprofit organization.
WHY
For many of the families with children in foster care, the parents and children are allowed to visit with one another on a regular basis. The Comfort Cottage is a small house set up to provide a home-like environment for the visits. Currently, the plants and weeds are all quite overgrown. Also, the paint on the picnic tables, play shed, and handrails is worn and chipped. Positive changes made to the outside area will allow families to have a more enjoyable time together when engaging in outdoor activities.
WHAT
Volunteers will work at The Comfort Cottage to weed and mulch the flower beds, sand and paint the picnic tables, play shed, and handrails. If time allows, a new sign for the facility will be constructed and painted.
