PHILADELPHIA (BRN) – In June, Ekklesia of North Philadelphia hosted a five day Stronghold Swordfighting Camp, during which kids 10-18 years of age spent two hours each day learning how to swordfight and another hour studying the Bible.
From their church neighborhood, Ekklesia saw 22 kids attend. The church also saw one family attend for a day that was not from their neighborhood. An estimated 75% of camp students fell into the targeted demographic (10-18 years old), with a few kids who were younger. Of those who attended the camp, 35% were not professing Christians.
The teens loved the Bible studies and discussions, begging to be the readers, helping each other look up scriptures and bringing up counter arguments and answers to each other’s questions.
Opportunities for deeper and more personal reflection were held during transportation before and after camp. Students saw their need for God and practiced making choices to please God even during competitive games.
