INDIANA, Pa., (BRN) – On January 27, 2024, the Indiana, Pennsylvania, campus of Harvest Church hosted a family movie night.

A total of 71 people gathered that evening to enjoy one another and the family friendly movie, Ratatouille. The goal of the event was to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy time together at a free event, hear the gospel and for us to introduce ourselves to new people from the greater Indiana communities.

We paused the movie about halfway through the evening, and thanks to the BRN Evangelism Grant, we were able to distribute pizza and snacks to the attendees. This provided a strategic time for conversations because people would not be heading for the exits at this point. We estimate that a total of 20 gospel conversations took place throughout the night.

Before the movie resumed, Greg Walker, one of our Community Group leaders, had the opportunity to share the gospel with the entire group. At the movie’s conclusion, conversations continued that allowed our members to continue to build relationships with those who do not normally attend, which is exactly what they had been trained for. Many people are uncomfortable walking into a new church on Sunday mornings as strangers. That is why events like this one are so important. The Indiana campus is a very close-knit congregation, and it is our hope that the laughter, joy and love we shared with our guests and with one another, along with the message of hope they heard, would provide an incentive for them to come back and visit us for Sunday service – no longer as strangers.
