Have you ever found yourself up against it? You know, when life takes a left turn or expectations crumble under circumstance.
You find yourself up against a wall of frustration, fear, failure or crisis. Life can seem difficult to navigate and feelings of hopelessness try to take over. Your faith is challenged and you begin to question God’s activity. We want to trust in the promises we know from God, but circumstance challenges our belief.
This book, The Red Sea Rules by Robert J. Morgan was given to me when I was going through cancer treatments many years ago. It was so helpful to get me to not look at the circumstance but to continually focus on God’s truth in spite of the circumstance.
In revisiting the book I found that it is a great resource to help us not only in the times of crisis but for life in general.
In the Prefix, the description for the book says that it contains, “Ten rules for handling dilemmas and discouragements – a divine protocol for handling life when we are caught between the devil and the deep Red Sea. A powerful and effective strategy for coping with the messes and stresses of life.”
The author has found that “Exodus 14 provides a biblical method to process difficulties by faith, in the light of God’s almighty presence, providence, promises, and power.”
I’m sure we can all relate to the messes and stresses of life!
While small and a very quick read, the message packs a punch. Want your perspective to focus on eternal significance rather than on temporal? Want a faith that grows and flourishes in the midst of life’s difficulties? Take a look at the Red Sea Rules.
The Rules that are unpacked in the book are:
- Rule 1~ Realize that God means for you to be where you are
- Rule 2~ Be more concerned for God’s glory than your relief
- Rule 3~ Acknowledge your enemy, but keep your eyes on the Lord
- Rule 4~ Pray
- Rule 5~ Stay Calm and confident, and give God time to work
- Rule 6~ When unsure, just take the next logical step by faith
- Rule 7~ Envision God’s enveloping presence
- Rule 8~ Trust God to deliver in His own unique way
- Rule 9~ View your current crises as a Faith builder for the future
- Rule 10~ Don’t forget to praise Him
There are Study Questions at the end of each chapter to help apply the lessons. There are also additional resources online to assist with small group studies at RedSeaRules.com.
