In a world filled with uncertainty, it’s natural for believers to experience worry, anxiety and fear. As humans living in a fallen world, we often find ourselves grappling with the challenges of an uncertain future.
However, as Christians, we have a profound source of comfort and strength in Jesus Christ, our perfect intercessor.
It’s important to acknowledge that feeling anxious or afraid in the face of uncertainty is a normal human response. Our emotions are a testament to our need for Christ in this sin-filled world. As we navigate life’s challenges, we are reminded daily of our dependence on God’s grace and guidance.
Recently, God has been teaching me about His gentle and lowly heart (Matt. 11:28-30).
Unlike us, He doesn’t become overwhelmed by our problems or the world’s troubles. His primary response to sin is grief, showing His deep love and concern for His creation.
For believers, there is immense comfort in knowing that we have Jesus as our perfect intercessor, constantly praying on our behalf.
Hebrews 7:25 reminds us that “He always lives to intercede for them.” This means that in every emotional state – fear, anxiety or joy – Jesus is present, advocating for us before the Father.
In my years of ministry, I’ve observed a tendency for people to focus more on “doing” ministry rather than being and abiding in Christ. This approach often leads to spiritual exhaustion and burnout. Jesus calls us to abide in Him, finding our strength and purpose in His presence rather than in our own efforts.
While uncertainty can be unsettling, Jesus doesn’t want us to be governed by fear. Instead, He calls us to faith.
The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28 that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. This promise offers a foundation of peace even in the midst of apparent uncertainty.
As we face the challenges of an uncertain world, let us remember that our future, provision and ultimate triumph are certain in God’s eyes.
By focusing on Christ’s intercessory role and abiding in His presence, we can find the strength to navigate life’s uncertainties with faith and confidence. In doing so, we demonstrate to the world the transformative power of faith in Jesus Christ, even in the face of uncertainty.
