STATE COLLEGE, Pa., (BRN) – Earlier this year, our New Life campus ministry at Penn State University (PSU) hosted a team of four Virginia Tech (VT) Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) students to join us for a few days in State College, Pennsylvania.

The year prior, I recognized that VT started spring semester a week later than PSU, so I contacted Darell Cook, the director of the Baptist Campus Ministry at VT, to see if we could get a car full of students to join us for our spring outreach. The trip went well.

The weekend they arrived we oriented them to Penn State and how we do things in New Life PSU. Their task was to go on campus and table, getting in conversations with students in the Business Building and the HUB Student Center. To orient them we took them out to eat and trained them in how we do our outreach.

Penn State New Life students welcome Virginia Tech BCM students and orient them with PSU’s campus.

One of the nights the team was here, we hosted a welcome back event to invite students to join. The gospel was shared at the Fraser Street Commons, hosted by Calvary Church, to 30+ students.

The impact of this team is pretty cool to reflect on.

First, one of the girls from VT is interviewing to join the collegiate work in PA/SJ. Second, the team had over 150 connections tabling on behalf of our group on campus. Lastly, from that Fraser Street event, two non-believing students connected to New Life PSU this semester. I am starting to read John with one of them!
