GREENSBURG, Pa., (BRN) – On April 8, the ladies of Reclamation Church Greensburg met at Applebees for a Ladies’ Night Out.
After everyone was there, a total of 17 women, we ordered food, and everyone was very grateful that their meal was paid for by this BRN Evangelism Grant. Thanks to the BRN grant, we were able to cover the cost of the meals and provide a gift for each woman.
While waiting for the food, I gave a brief talk about what Jesus means to me. Through three main points, I emphasized that walking with Jesus gives me peace, freedom and hope.
1. When I pursue God through his Word and prayer He gives me peace beyond whatever current thing I am going through.
2. I know through my time in His Word that it is God’s power in my weakness that helps me overcome temptation and sin. This has given me freedom from having to be perfect on my own. I know that only through His work on the cross I overcome my sin.
3. I have hope, not only in eternal life, but through the sorrow and suffering of this life, because God promises me peace and freedom when I pursue Him.

After I spoke, we had a time of discussion.
There were note cards on the table with two questions: (1) What keeps you from seeking a relationship with Jesus? (2) How have you experienced peace, freedom and hope in your life because of your relationship with Jesus?
The ladies took time to reflect and share with each other. Some of the conversations were women who know God intimately sharing their experiences, while others were women asking questions about what it means to seek Jesus.
Through this experience, the gospel was shared and women gained a deeper understanding of what it looks like to seek Jesus and have a relationship with Him. It is exciting when more than just “church staff” are sharing the gospel with others.

As everyone left, we gave them a devotional by Lysa Terkheurst called Embraced, a small journal to keep their thoughts in and a Reclamation pen. Two ladies asked what a devotional was, and I was able to walk them through what it looks like to spend time with God each day.
I really loved this evening! It was so helpful to be able to provide the meals for everyone and keep cost from being something that prevented them from participating.
The evening was a good jump start to future conversations between the women in our church. There have already been follow-ups between some of the ladies. Thank you for awarding us the grant!
