NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa., (BRN) – On April 4, women, girls, and mission enthusiasts from across Pennsylvania/South Jersey gathered at Red Land Baptist Church in New Cumberland, Pa., for the 2025 PA/SJ WMU Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting theme was “Joy in Serving.”

Those in attendance spent the day talking about serving, praying with those who are serving, ministering to college students of International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries currently on the field, and hearing from Alta Brandenberger, soon-to-be IMB journeyman.

Alta is a member at Wrightsdale Baptist Church in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, and attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, receiving her master’s degree in cross-cultural counseling. Her passion for missions is evident in her service and testimony.

Prior to speaking, Alta asked the women to sing “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” with the addition of two new verses penned by Pam Ammons, member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: “Send out your faithful workers, your harvest now is due. Call out each one and all of us, we seek to follow You” (verse 4); “Dear Lord our sister Alta, she seeks to follow you. Lord work in Prague we pray today all hearts be turned to you” (verse 5).

During her keynote, Alta shared about her journey of becoming an IMB journeyman and that she will be serving in the Czech Republic later this year.

The PA/SJ WMU also voted in Fanny Grote as their president and Jada Baker as their recording secretary during the annual business meeting. Both Fanny and Jada are members of Country & Town Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Girls in 6th – 12th grade also met, and their time was focused on their abilities to serve others with joy.
