Hello BRN Family, it is good to be with you today! Last week I shared how holy discontentment is a godly dissatisfaction with the status quo and how it has the power to fuel a movement of change.
So, why is holy discontent so vital for a movement of God?
God uses discontent to stir His people. When we become unsettled in our spirits, God often uses that to draw us into deeper engagement with His purposes.
Holy discontent fuels prayer and action. It doesn’t just make us uncomfortable—it compels us to pray, to act, and to seek transformation. It prompts repentance and reform. Discontent with sin leads us to repentance, and true repentance brings reformation in our lives and in society.
Holy discontent also leads to bold, courageous leadership. It moves us from complacency to action, empowering us to lead with conviction. It inspires justice and social transformation. Holy discontent moves us to seek justice, particularly on behalf of those who are vulnerable and marginalized.
Finally, holy discontent invites God’s power and presence. When God’s people are stirred, it invites His presence to bring real change.
To summarize, holy discontent is a passionate godly dissatisfaction with sin, injustice, or anything that opposes God’s kingdom. It stirs the heart to seek change, transformation, and alignment with God’s will. It’s a discontent that compels us not only to reflect but to act—both personally and as a collective people.
This year, as we focus on being BOLD, and moving to the next level of where Jesus desires to take us, let us pray that God would stir up holy discontent in our hearts. May we become dissatisfied with our own apathy, with sin and injustice we see in the world, and with the ways we fall short of God’s holiness. Let this discontent move us to act boldly in protecting the vulnerable and in pursuing righteousness in every area of our lives.
When we respond to holy discontent, we will partner with God in a powerful movement for change, revival, and justice in the church and in our world. Let’s believe that righteousness can flow again like a never-failing stream.
Thank you, and may God bless you as always!
