LITTLESTOWN, Pa., (BRN) – Pastor Jim Gould has served in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army, played as quarterback for a championship football team (while serving in the Army) and even been featured in a Super Bowl commercial, yet, for Gould, his greatest occupation lies in fulfilling God’s call on his life to preach.

For 10 years, Jim Gould served as the associate pastor at First Baptist Church in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. In 2022, he was asked to help out at Hanover Fellowship Church in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and in Dec. 2023 he found himself praying for his next pastoral opportunity.

I prayed and asked God to open a door if He still wanted me to fulfill His calling on my life to preach,” said Gould.

Two days after his prayer, Gould had a conversation with Brad Horne from the Keystone Baptist Association (KBA), later, that same week, he met with Pastor Larry Douthwaite of Living Faith Church (LFC).

A month later, in January 2024, Gould preached his first sermon at Living Faith Church.

“Pastor Larry and I had a plan for me to slowly take over pastoral responsibilities at LFC, culminating in June 2024 when Pastor Larry was set to retire,” explained Gould.

However, in March of 2024 the Lord called Pastor Larry home. Shortly after Pastor Larry’s passing, Gould was installed as the senior pastor of LFC by a congregational vote.

Pastor Gould and his wife, Tammy, have been serving the Littlestown, Pennsylvania, community through LFC ever since, desiring to help already faithful Christians grow and to share the gospel with those in need of the good news of Jesus.

“I serve the Lord with two primary missions: (1) spiritually grow Christians and (2) get the Word of Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus the Christ to as many people as I can,” said Gould.

This year, Jim and Tammy will be celebrating 30 years of marriage. Together they have two adult children, one son and one daughter.

Prior to his time in the pulpit, Gould served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army. During his time as a Marine, he was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Liberia, Africa, Japan and South Korea. It was while he was serving in the Army that Gould was featured in a “support our troops” commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. He also served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Following his time in the military, Gould obtained a degree in theology from the Rawlings School of Divinity at Liberty University.

Some of Gould’s hobbies include designing and creating 3D printed materials, laser engraving and cutting, playing retro video games (such as Atari, ColecoVision and Intellivision), fishing and biking. He also loves the winter and snow. Most of all, he enjoys studying God’s Word any chance he gets.
