Hugh Franklin Miller, Jr. was born on December 8, 1938, in Nashville, Tenn., and passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Franklin Miller, Sr. and Eyrbe Maxine Pigg McDonald. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Edwards Miller; children, Mark Miller and his wife, Cheri, of Acworth, Ga., Brian Miller and his wife, Sally, of Winter Park, Fla., and Melanie Brewer of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Alexander Brewer, Samantha, Taylor, and Taine Miller.

Frank grew up in Paducah, Ky. He graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1956. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Union University. He received an honorary doctorate from the Cincinnati Bible College. Frank earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It was during his time at Union University that he met his wife, Rebecca Edwards. They were married on New Years Eve, 1959.

Frank was a Southern Baptist minister for over 40 years. He pastored churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. In 1971, he became an associational missionary for the North American Mission Board in northeastern Ohio. During his time there, Frank dedicated his life to sharing God’s love, supporting pastors, and strengthening local churches. Then, in 1984 he moved to Philadelphia, Pa., and continued sharing the love of Jesus Christ, while serving as director of missions for Greater Philadelphia Baptist Association.

Frank retired in 2001 and moved to Louisville, Ky. He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and interim pastor.

Frank was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed studying the Bible and reading about historical events.

The family will receive friends at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church.

The funeral service will be held at Parkland Baptist Church on Thursday, February 6th at 11:00am. The service can be viewed on the YouTube Channel for Parkland Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, Ky., on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM EST, 12:00 PM Central Time.
