An elderly resident in Nanticoke, Pa.
WHAT
Volunteers will be helping an elderly gentleman with hyperacusis, which hinders him from leaving to go to most places including church due to his hypersensitivity to any loud noise. He currently has a partly finished soundproof room in need of finishing, which will allow him a much-needed reprieve from the noise outside. Volunteers will finish up the soundproof room and re-insulating a few locations.
WHY
To provide the gentleman a safe and secure place for him to weather the literal and metaphorical storms his disease forces him to face daily. This will allow the gentleman to not have to find better shelter when there are thunderstorms, firework displays, or even heavy wind and rain. These events force him out of his home and by soundproofing the space we would finally find some peace amid a hard situation medically.
