On Sunday, May 2, Wrightsdale Baptist Church in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, invited its members and church family to give toward a special “LOVE MY CHURCH” offering. The purpose of this special offering was to pay down (or pay off) the remaining balance of the church mortgage.

On this special day, 100% of all monetary gifts received both in-person and online were put toward paying down the debt, shared Pastor Ryan Day.

“Gifts poured in, and when all the totals were completed, the Wrightsdale Baptist Church family raised nearly $75,000, which will complete the full payoff of the church mortgage,” he said.

Noting paying off a church mortgage means more than just being relieved of a debt or taking full ownership of buildings or properties, Day said doing so actually gives the local church a strategic advantage for the future, opening up new possibilities to do even more ministry for Christ’s Kingdom.

“We’re praising God for the incredible spirit of generosity that was so evident among the people, and we’re continuing to believe by faith that ‘the best is yet to come,’” he said.

“Every church has a unique situation and context, but other BRN churches may wish to consider this type of special offering sometime in 2021,” Day said. “Many families across Pennsylvania and South Jersey have received stimulus funds in recent months, and some may choose to direct them into ‘Kingdom purposes’ that will advance Christ and His gospel—especially at the local level.”
