Hey BRN Family, Elizabeth here, and it’s time for the March Top 5!
#1: March is here, so it’s time to sign up for the Advance Evangelism Conference! This conference, helpful for all church members, will be held on March 17 at Country and Town Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Registration closes at midnight on March 12, so don’t delay!! This year’s Advance will feature keynote speakers, James Roberson, pastor of The Bridge Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dr. Lee Clamp, associate executive director-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention; Seven of Messiah University, who will lead worship; and several practical breakout sessions. Learn more at advancepasj.com.
#2: Speaking of evangelism, this year, March 16 falls on a Sunday, and the North American Mission Board’s evangelism team is urging Southern Baptist churches to plan a special outreach on that day using a campaign called “3:16 on 3/16.” All SBC pastors are urged to preach on John 3:16 that Sunday. To learn more, visit the website, 316on316.com, which includes resources designed to help churches and pastors prepare for the Sunday. Sermon prompts, outreach ideas and a prayer guide can help a church engage their neighbors with the Gospel.
#3: You and your church members are invited to take part in the BRN’s spring disaster relief training, either at Country & Town Baptist on March 21-22 or at Cross Creek-Lehman on April 4-5. Advanced Disaster Relief Training is hands-on, on-site instruction for Disaster Relief volunteers who have completed Basic Disaster Relief Training and met the background check requirement. Multiple courses are offered for volunteers. Haven’t done the Basic training? No worries! You can do that all online at brnunited.org/courses. Learn more at brnunited.org/dr.
#4: Pastors, current deacons, and prospective deacons are invited to a Deacons’ Training at the BRN Training Center in Harrisburg on April 5. This training will feature four biblical essentials for ‘Deacons on Purpose’ as taught by Dr. Ryan Day, pastor of Wrightsdale Baptist Church. These four purposes are primarily derived from Acts 6:1-7, a passage widely understood to have laid the foundation for the office of deacon in the local New Testament church. Cost is $20 per person (covers lunch and materials). Learn more at brnunited.org/deacons.
#5: Also on April 5, WMU will host its annual meeting, “The Joy of Serving,” from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Red Land Baptist Church in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Alta Brandenberger, a member at Wrightsdale Baptist Church, who is preparing to serve in the Czech Republic as an IMB Journeyman missionary, will be this year’s guest speaker. The cost is $10 per person and brunch/lunch will be served. Register by email to pa.sjwmu@gmail.com.
That’s all for March. Thanks for watching, BRN Family. We appreciate you and we are thankful for you!
