INDIANA, Pa., (BRN) – On Saturday, April 1, the Indiana Campus of Harvest Church in Indiana, Pennsylvania, held its first-ever community Easter egg hunt at Floodway Park in the town of Homer City, Pennsylvania.

Homer City is a small community of 1,700 people just south of Indiana, Pennsylvania. It is also part of our 3-2-1 initiative to increase our presence in specific communities we believe can be immediately served by a gospel-centered church. Jim and Gail Farmer assembled a team of volunteers that packed over 2,000 eggs, prepared crafts and planned the event activities.

The weather during the week leading up to the event was wet and cold. God answered the prayers of His children and provided a warm, sunny Saturday morning for this outreach.

Members of the community arrived to see smiling faces and fun activities as they awaited the start of the egg hunt. Prior to giving the instructions to the kids, Pastor Joe Killeen shared the gospel as the true meaning of the Easter season.

Over 300 people – parents, children and grandparents alike – heard the truth about Jesus Christ. The egg hunt went smoothly with the children enthusiastically collecting over 2,000 eggs in less than five minutes.

Between the beautiful weather and the playground, along with the crafts and food we provided, many members of the community stayed for quite a while. This allowed for members of Harvest Church to meet people and begin building relationships, intentionally looking for opportunities to share Christ. In addition to gaining the contact information for almost 100 families, two new families attended the Sunday service the next morning.
