MADISON, Wis. — The growing concern among parents regarding what schools are teaching their children cannot be overstated. For example, in Madison, Wisconsin, the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) instructed teachers to treat children as the opposite sex for all purposes at the child’s request, without parental knowledge or consent. The teachers are instructed to keep secret from parents that the school is doing this—even to actively deceive parents. This formal, written policy is just one example in a growing number of instances in which school districts have egregiously violated parental rights.

The good news is parents are beginning to boldly stand against these unlawful actions by school systems. A group of parents from Madison filed a lawsuit in February 2020 against the school district with the help of Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and Alliance Defending Freedom (Watch ADF’s video on this case).

Here is how you can pray for Parental Rights:

Judicial

Pray that the judges in the Doe v. Madison Metropolitan School District case will uphold the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children.

Legislative

Pray that God would call faithful Christian parents to run as candidates for their local school boards, and give them the courage to do so. Additionally, pray that schools approve and implement proper curricula for our children that does not include political ideologies that are contrary to both basic biology and the Gospel.

Cultural

Pray that our culture recognizes that parents, not government schools, possess the fundamental right to oversee the education of their children.

Church

Pray that churches find creative ways to serve the faculty, staff, and students of their local schools.
