SUMMARY:Virtual Training Institute: Walking with the Wounded\, Caring for Those Impacted by Trauma
DESCRIPTION:About this Virtual Event:\nThe Virtual Training Institute is a resource of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). These free webinars are part of an ongoing series designed to provide valuable continuing education on topics related to Abuse Prevention and Response. The goal is to strengthen the safeguarding efforts of ministries to protect the vulnerable. Each session features instruction from an industry expert and a live Q&A session with the presenter. All ministry leaders are invited to join the conversation on these important topics\, informed by real issues ministry leaders face today. \nOverview of this Course: \nTrauma is one of the most pressing issues of our day\, touching lives in both obvious and hidden ways. Yet many of us feel unprepared to respond with both wisdom and compassion. What exactly is trauma? And how can we\, as Christians\, offer care that is biblically faithful and truly empathetic? \nCounselor and author Eliza Huie will share insights from her book Trauma Aware: A Christian’s Guide to Help and Care. Written to equip pastors\, ministry leaders\, and everyday helpers\, this resource blends biblical foundations with clinical understanding to help the church better recognize and respond to trauma. Trauma can cloud the mind\, weigh down the body\, and entangle the soul. In the face of such struggles\, Eliza offers both clarity and encouragement—helping us demystify trauma and showing us how to walk alongside others with the hope of Christ. \nWho’s Invited?\nAny ministry leader who is seeking to learn more about child safety or trauma care. \nDate/Time:\nApril 16\, 2-3:30 p.m. EST \nLocation:\nOnline (Access webinar link by registering) \nPresenter:\nEliza Huie\, Director of Counseling at McLean Bible Church in Vienna\, Virginia. \nEliza Huie is a licensed clinical professional counselor and serves as the Director of Counseling at McLean Bible Church in Vienna\, Virginia. She holds certifications in biblical counseling from The Christian Counseling Educational Foundation (CCEF) and The Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC). She is also the author of several books including Raising Kids Emotionally Healthy Kids\, Teens and Anxiety: Help for Parents\, The Whole Life\, 52-Weeks of Biblical Self-care\, Count Yourself Calm\, I’m Stressed: A Path from Pressure to Peace\, Raising Kids in a Screen-Saturated World\, and other titles. \nCost:\nFree! \nRegister:\nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Deacons' Training
DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL OPS IN SERVICE \nFeaturing four biblical essentials for ‘Deacons on Purpose’ as taught by Dr. Ryan Day of Wrightsdale Baptist Church \nAbout the Training:\n \nFeaturing A Deacon on Purpose\, written by Dr. Tony Wolfe \nA healthy deacon body is critical to the overall health of the church. When deacons serve biblically\, they advance the cause of Christ; when they do not\, they hinder it. A Deacon On Purpose outlines four essential commitments every deacon must make to serve Jesus’s church well\, in concert with biblical teaching. 1) Lead by Example. The deacon is the lead servant in the local church. He should strategically leverage relational influence to model faithful Christian living and service in the body of Christ. 2) Serve the People. A deacon who is above the people is below the office. The primary function of the office is to serve Christ’s people with an open heart and open hands. 3) Support the Pastor and Staff. Deacons are an extension of the pastor’s long arm of ministry. The two offices must work in concert with one another if either is to be effective. 4) Protect the Peace. Other than the gospel itself\, unity is the most precious thing a church can possess. Deacons must cultivate and guard peace with careful intentionality.  These four sessions are primarily derived from Acts 6:1-7\, a passage widely understood to have laid the foundation for the office of deacon in the local New Testament church. \n \nPresenter:\nDr. Ryan Day\, Lead Pastor of Wrightsdale Baptist Church\, Peach Bottom\, Pa.\nDR. RYAN DAY\, a native of Westminster\, Maryland\, came to Wrightsdale Baptist Church as Lead Pastor in 2020. Prior to Wrightsdale\, he served at Grace Baptist Church in Hazleton\, Pennysylvania for twenty years. Ryan is a 1998 graduate of Baptist Bible College (now Clarks Summit University) and 2005 graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary. He also holds a doctor of ministry degree from Baptist Bible Seminary. When he’s not ministering at the church\, enjoying time with his family\, or making plans for the next trip to Ocean City\, Maryland\, Ryan enjoys presidential biographies\, the Baltimore Ravens\, and playing guitar in praise and worship settings. He loves Lancaster County and is excited about “Accelerating Kingdom Movement” within the BRN. Ryan is married to Heather\, and they have five sons and one daughter. \n\n\nAbout the Materials:\n \nWho’s Invited:\nPastors\, current deacons\, and prospective deacons \nDates/Locations:\nChoose the location nearest you! \n\nSaturday\, April 11\, 9:30am – 12:30pm: BRN Training Center\, Harrisburg (4620 Fritchey St.\, Harrisburg\, PA 17109)\nSaturday\, May 2\, 9:30am – 12:30pm: Keystone Montgomeryville Warehouse (506 Stump Rd\, Montgomeryville\, Pa.)\nSaturday\, June 20\, 9:30am – 12:30pm: Rolling Hills Church (120 Gernert Dr\, Verona\, PA 15147)\n\nCost:\n$20 per person (covers lunch and materials) \nRegistration:\nClick here to register \nQuestions?\nContact Dr. Ryan Day at ryan@wrightsdale.org.

SUMMARY:Church Mental Health Summit
DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nThis March\, Zion Church in Clarion will host the 3rd Annual Church Mental Health Summit! \nThis one-day summit is intended to equip pastors\, church leaders\, and church volunteers with practical tools and next steps for supporting individuals and families facing mental health challenges. An exhibit space will also be available for organizations that provide mental health-related resources and services. The theme for 2026 is “Stronger Together: Bridging Church and Community for Mental Health Support.”\n\nThis year marks a significant expansion of the event’s reach: what began as a Clarion County-focused summit is now the Church Mental Health Summit – PennWest\, designed to strengthen collaboration across Western Pennsylvania.\n\n“Church leaders are often the first people someone turns to when they’re struggling\,” said Pastor Trent Kirkland\, lead pastor of Zion Church and one of the event organizers. “Most pastors want to help\, but many feel stuck—unsure of what to say\, what to do next\, or how to connect someone with the right support. SUMMARY:PA/SJ WMU Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:About this Event:\nThe Pennsylvania/South Jersey WMU Annual Meeting is a one-day event that gathers Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) leaders and representatives from across our two-state region as well as those passionate about missions to hear about what God is doing through missions locally and globally. The day will feature keynote speakers and mission-centered breakout sessions designed to encourage and educate on the importance of spreading the Gospel in our local context and to the ends of the earth. The PA/SJ WMU is a chapter of the Woman’s Missionary Union\, an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention. \nFor over 136 years\, Woman’s Missionary Union has helped Southern Baptists fulfill the Great Commission. WMU understands the challenges church leaders face — limited time\, resources\, and volunteers — when trying to mobilize their congregation for missions. But they also believe every church member is mandated by God to obey the Great Commission. \nAt this year’s WMU Annual Meeting\, guests will hear from keynote speaker Connie Dixon\, the 24th president of national WMU. The meeting will also include an International Mission study focusing on Brazil\, highlighting the work of the International Mission Board (IMB.) In addition\, participants will take part in a mission project benefiting Alta B.\, who was with us last March and currently serves in the Czech Republic. \nWe invite you to come\, learn\, and bring others from your church who have a heart for missions. We are also excited to once again offer a special track for middle and high school girls\, designed as a full day of mission education to help them grow and develop a missions mindset. Connie Dixon will spend time with the girls as well. Emily Fyfe will return to lead this mission track. Emily is a former missionary kid (MK) from Ukraine. \nWho’s Invited:\nPA/SJ WMU leaders and members\, young women interested in missions (6th-12th grade)\, anyone interested in learning more about WMU or missions. \nDate/Time:\nSaturday\, March 7\, 2026\, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. \nLocation:\nRed Land Baptist Church \nAddress: 661 Big Spring Rd.\, New Cumberland\, PA \nKeynote Speaker:\nConnie Dixon\, President of National WMU\nConnie Dixon\, the 24th president of national WMU\, will be the keynote speaker for the 2026 WMU Annual Meeting. Connie is a native of New Mexico and has been a member of First Bap tist Church of Elida\, New Mexico\, since she professed her personal faith in Jesus at the age of nine. She grew up as a member of GA’s (Girls in Ac on) and later married an RA (Royal Ambassador.) Her husband Herschel serves actively with Disaster Relief. They have two daughters\, Kendra and Tammy\, and three grandchildren. \nIn 2023\, Connie authored the book It Became to Me a Joy: When God Shines Brightly through the Broken Places where she shares real and vulnerable stories of hardships and challenges. During our meeting\, Connie will encourage us as she shares how she continues to abide in joy. \nCost:\n$10 (lunch provided) \nQuestions?\nContact Theresa Krieg at tkrieg55@gmail.com. \nRegister:\nIf you’d like to attend\, please email PA.SJWMU@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and Week of Prayer for North American Missions
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, churches observe the Week of Prayer for North American Missions by praying for missionaries\, their ministries\, and their families. This year\, the official dates are March 1–8\, although your church can participate any time during the Easter season. \nNorth American missionaries take the gospel to unreached communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. They depend on your prayers to open hearts and help them disciple new believers. \nTo fuel their work\, missionaries also need your gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) is the primary way Southern Baptists fund missions in North America. One hundred percent of gifts given to AAEO go to the field to support more than 3\,000 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada.  This year’s national offering goal is $80 million. \nLearn more at anniearmstrong.com.

SUMMARY:Forces for Good Summit
DESCRIPTION:About this Event:\nChristians are called by God to be forces for good in our broken world. In Matthew 5\, Jesus tells us to “let your light shine before others\, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matt 5:16 CSB).  A culture of goodness flows from our churches when each of us faithfully live out this calling in light of the hope we have in the gospel. \nWe must live out this God-given calling in every area of ministry – even in areas like: \nGovernance\, Financial Policies\, Technology\, Security Measures\, Risk Management\, Abuse Prevention Measures\, Leadership\, People Management\, and Insurance Policies. Intentional pursuit of Christ-honoring practices in these often overlooked areas of ministry supports\, enables\, and steward the work of the church\, ultimately leading to human flourishing as intended by God. \nBut what does it mean to be a force for good in these areas? How do we support and contribute to a culture of goodness in our churches that makes them bright lights to our watching world? \nJoin this gathering of executive and denominational leaders focused around organizational health and the role of holistic stewardship in making our churches and Christian ministries forces for good in our world. As we answer God’s call as Christians to be lights to the world\, we must consider how the leadership and administration of our ministries shape culture and how that culture impacts the brightness of our light. \nDon’t miss this full day summit with leaders from denominations\, associations\, and networks working together with industry leaders to innovate how to be forces for good in all aspects of our churches and organizations. \nWho’s Invited?\nPastors\, executive pastors\, children and youth directors and anyone that serves NextGen. \nDate/Time:\nFebruary 24\, 6:00 p.m. – February 25\, 2026 8:30 p.m. CST \nLocation:\nAll sessions to take place on the campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Ray I. SUMMARY:Racial Reconciliation Sunday
DESCRIPTION:“For he is our peace\, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh\, he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations\, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two\, resulting in peace. He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death” (Ephesians 2:14-16 CSB). \n\nWe are committed to upholding the human dignity of every individual and advancing the cause of racial reconciliation. The gospel\, at its core\, is a message of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-21)\, in which we are called to love one another (1 John 4:20-21) since “Christ is all and in all” (Col. 3:11). \nThe Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) has created resources for Racial Reconciliation Sunday that are available to all SBC churches. These free\, downloadable resources include: a bulletin insert\, prayer guide\, and graphics. Access these resources here.
