SUMMARY:Webinar: The Equality Act and the LGBTQ Movement-Some of the Biggest Threats to Religious Liberty
DESCRIPTION:One of the biggest social and governmental threats to biblical churches\, schools\, colleges\, ministries\, and nonprofits is the sexual revolution and all of its implications. Currently the U.S. Congress is considering a bill called the Equality Act\, and President Biden has called it an agenda priority in his first 100 days. While this bill can\, on the surface\, look appealing and helpful it will end up being harmful for the Christian community at large and could pressure many to either abandon their biblical moral and gospel convictions or face government sanction. There’s a very real threat to our favorite ministries and organizations that are doing incredible gospel and humanitarian work – work that we should all want to protect. \nHow should pastors\, and church\, ministry and cultural leaders think about it\, talk about it\, and address it? How do we love our neighbor while still standing against harmful legislation and policies? \nThe Church Ambassador Network and the Pennsylvania Family Institute will host a webinar with two of the foremost Christian thinkers of the evangelical world\, Dr. Andrew T. Walker and Dr. Carl Trueman\, on Tuesday\, February 16\, at 2 p.m. (ET) to discuss and consider the threat and what can be done about it. \nDr. Andrew T. Walker is professor of Christian ethics and apologetics and associate dean at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary\, author of numerous books including God and the Transgender Debate\, and renowned writer and speaker. \nDr. Carl Trueman is one of the foremost Christian voices and accomplished church historian\, professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College and former professor at Westminster Theological Seminary\, and author of over a dozen books including The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Pivot: Leadership for the Next Chapter
DESCRIPTION:What if this season we’ve been going through is not an interruption but a disruption? What if it’s not a temporary time brought on by circumstances beyond our control\, but rather a transition brought about by the one Who is in control? If it’s a temporary interruption our goal is to get out of it as quickly as possible. If it’s a transitional disruption\, our goal is to get into it as deeply as God desires\, because in times of transition God catalyzes transformation to prepare us for the next chapter. We’ll spend time talking about leading in times of transition and disruption. We’ll ask the question\, “What’s next?” And we’ll give a model for leadership development in the next chapter. \nFeaturing Dan Nold\, lead pastor of Calvary Church\, State College\, Pa. \nPastor Dan has been married to Lynn for over 30 years. As much as he loves the church\, his most significant and enjoyable achievement has been partnering with Lynn to love and develop their four kids and now one kid-in-law: Sarah\, Katy (and her husband\, Josiah)\, Jake and Josh. Dan and Lynn came to State College and Calvary in 1994. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from Bethel University and a Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary. Currently\, Dan is working on his Doctor of Ministry in Organic Leadership Development. Dan loves to preach\, develop leaders and strategize about the future of the church in the Centre region. Years ago\, Dan read a prayer by A.W. Tozer that he still prays consistently\, “Lord make me a man to whom you can entrust your glory.” That’s Dan’s greatest purpose. “I long to become a man to whom God can entrust his glory—a living display of the gospel of grace—to inflame a passion for Christ in others.” \nRegister

SUMMARY:Send Network Equipping for Multiplication Seminar: Missional Motive
DESCRIPTION:Before talking about the how of missional living\, it is crucial to discuss the why. In this session we will discuss the missionary nature of the church\, as one of the primary motivations for laying a foundation for the church to move in a missional direction. The reality is that the church doesn’t just send missionaries; the church is the missionary. \nFeaturing Brad Brisco:\nBrad is currently the Director of Bivocational Church Planting for the North American Mission Board. He holds a doctorate in the area of missional ecclesiology\, his doctoral thesis was on assisting existing congregations in transitioning in a missional direction. He is the co-author of Missional Essentials\, a twelve-week small group study guide\, The Missional Quest: Becoming a Church of the Long Run\, Next Door As It Is In Heaven\, and Covocational Church Planting. He blogs regularly at missionalchurchnetwork.com. \nRegister \nGo to Seminar \nDownload Flyer

SUMMARY:2021 Spark Conference
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to our partners\, Georgia Baptists\, Pennsylvania/South Jersey Baptists can look forward to igniting their ministries next year at Spark 2021. The Spark Conference\, which first premiered in August 2020 and reached over 33\,000 total views on the Spark website\, will return Aug. 12\, 2021. \nFor those who took advantage of the conference in 2020\, the 2021 event will provide a similar schedule and digital format. \nCurrently\, the event will be completely online. Scott Sullivan\, GBMB discipleship catalyst and Spark coordinator\, said the first Spark Conference was born out of a desire to meet needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s online-only layout was the first of its kind hosted by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. \n“The fully virtual side of the conference is something we will do again in 2021\,” Sullivan said. “We are able to train more people and get the training down into the trenches of the local church where it needs to be when we go fully digital.” \nSullivan said the August 12 premiere will offer a full day of content with multiple keynote and breakout speakers. The theme for this year is “DREAM.” \n“The point of that is to challenge leaders to lead well now\, but spend necessary time learning to be future-tense thinkers\,” Sullivan said. “We want them to not just be overwhelmed with the present but be laying a foundation for future success.” \nTony Evans\, Ben Mandrell\, Charles Lowery\, and David Kinnaman will be the keynote speakers for the conference that will be held completely online. \n“The 2021 speakers will help us ‘understand the times’ (1 Chronicles 12:32) and dream God-sized dreams for the Church moving forward\,” Scott Sullivan\, Georgia Baptist Mission Board Discipleship catalyst and Spark coordinator\, confirmed. \n“We are very excited about providing four of the nation’s top leaders as keynotes for SPARK 2021\,” Sullivan added. \nTony Evans\nBen Mandrell\nCharles Lowery\nDavid Kinnaman\nTony Evans is the founder and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas\, Texas. He will “bring the pastor’s perspective and will speak to the heart of our leaders\,” Sullivan shared. \nBen Mandrell is the president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville\, Tenn. Mandrell is “leading one of the most significant shifts at LifeWay and will speak from a church planter’s mindset\,” Sullivan explained. \nCharles Lowery\, president and CEO of Lowery Institute for Excellence\, Inc.\, a non-profit training and consulting organization\, “will bring humor as he encourages relationships which are very much under attack during the pandemic\,” Sullivan said. \nDavid Kinnaman\, president of Barna Group\, “will share fresh research and best practices as he delivers a state of the church message\,” Sullivan added. \nIn addition to the keynotes\, breakout sessions will include tracks for discipleship\, evangelism\, missions\, and many others to be announced. \nLast year\, the conference premiered on a Friday. In 2021\, the conference is slated to premiere on a Thursday. Sullivan cited evaluations from both GBMB staff and conference attendees as a reason for the change. \n“It came from our team and several dozen pastors in the state when we asked specifically about the day and format\,” Sullivan said. “Thursdays were easier to gather staff or leaders and sit around a computer and watch the premiere.” \nThe August 12 premiere will be free like last year. However\, the content for registrants will only be free until August 31. There will be a digital pass available for purchase – $10 for an individual\, $29 for a church\, and $99 for an association. This pass gives year-long access to all Spark keynotes\, resources\, and breakout sessions. \n“The target audience for the premiere is the leader or leaders of a church\,” Sullivan said. “The larger audience comes when associations or churches host an event centered around the content from Spark.” \nIn 2020\, there were 206 host sites around the world that utilized content from the Spark Conference. As hosts for the event\, the churches and associations were able to use content from Spark weeks and months after the premiere. \nSullivan said the quality of keynotes and breakouts makes the Spark Conference a competitor with similar conferences. However\, the fact the conference is free and later offered at such a low price means it is the best-valued conference in the nation. \n“The goal for 2021 isn’t to do bigger and better\,” Sullivan said. “It’s to build on the quality of 2020.” \nTo sign up for early registration notifications\, visit thesparkconference.com.

SUMMARY:ADF Church & Culture: Navigating Faith & Politics as a Ministry Leader
DESCRIPTION:Election season often presents challenges for church leaders who are navigating the intersection of faith and politics.   \nGiven that the Scriptures discuss much of what is being debated in our culture\, churches have a unique role in guiding the discussion. However\, some laws limit or restrict political engagement by pastors\, churches\, and other ministries.     \nThe Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Church and Ministry Alliance is hosting a livestream\, Church & Culture: Navigating Faith and Politics as a Ministry Leader\, on May 16 at 3 p.m. ADF leaders and keynote guests will discuss how you can help your church navigate this election season according to your convictions and within your legal rights.   \nKey questions that will be addressed:     \n\nWhat legal limitations and restrictions are placed on churches\, ministries\, and pastors when engaging in political activities?   \nHow can Christians ensure that their political engagement is driven by their theological convictions while maintaining their primary identity in Christ?   \nHow can pastors guide their congregations to engage in politics not as partisans but as ambassadors for Christ? \n\nSave your seat for this virtual event by visiting adfchurchalliance.org/church-and-culture. \nRegister
