SUMMARY:Revitalization Boot Camp\, Central Region
DESCRIPTION:Revitalization Boot Camp-Central Region\nWith over 75% of churches plateauing or in decline\, we must do something different to change this trajectory. Come and hear about best practices\, true-to-life experiences\, as well as a Q&A panel engagement. This workshop is designed to help fight against the apathy within our churches and lost-ness in our communities that can show up in a decline in attendance\, little or no evangelistic fruit in church growth and/or no baptisms. A plateauing or declining church also shows up in the lack of a younger generation of future church leaders. Come and learn how to reverse these trends and sustain momentum. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:FREE VBS Preview Simulcast
DESCRIPTION:As hundreds gather at Ridgecrest Conference Center for the kickoff of the 2020 VBS preview series\, anyone—for the first time ever—can watch from around the globe. On Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. ET\, LifeWay will live stream the evening session of their “Concrete & Cranes” preview event from the conference center near Asheville\, N.C. for free. \n“VBS is the most evangelistic event most churches do all year. It’s a strategy the church cannot afford to ignore\,” said Chuck Peters\, director of operations for LifeWay Kids. So we are hosting this simulcast as a way to invite church leaders\, parents\, and anyone\, anywhere\, involved in kids ministry get a sneak peek of what we’re offering this year and how it can best be used.” \nTo access the simulcast\, users will need to create a free LifeWay Digital Pass account\, which they’ll use to sign in and watch the evening session. \nThe 2020 VBS theme\, “Concrete & Cranes\,” revealed June 2019\, will focus on Philippians 1:6 and will teach kids—through five stories from the life of Jesus—how they can build their lives on the sure foundation of Christ and His gospel. \nIn addition to the simulcast\, the rollout of “Concrete & Cranes” includes another new free feature — the exclusive VBS Director’s Club. \nClub membership includes: \n• Recruiting and enlistment tools\n• Exclusive themed clip art\n• Access to training presentations\n• Themed social media assets for promotion\n• Bible story and worship rally overview videos\n• Other resources and special offers \nChurches looking to get a head start on VBS can order the new Director’s Kit (formerly known as the Jumpstart Kit). For “Concrete & Cranes” the kit comes in form of a tool case. \nThe 2020 kit includes an administrative guide that offers training tips\, set-up and promotion suggestions\, a double-sided promotional poster\, a CD-ROM containing evaluation tools and forms\, music\, samples of take-home activity books for all age groups\, as well as some gifts for the VBS director. \nThe kit also features a “Decorating Made Easy” book full of ideas for all budgets\, timeframes\, church sizes\, and contexts. \n“Our team is so excited for kids\, students and adults to learn about the strong foundation we have in Jesus at VBS this year\,” said Jana Magruder\, director of LifeWay Kids. \n“‘Concrete & Cranes’ is big on fun and helps kids build on the love of Jesus to reach their homes and communities for the gospel.” \nAll 2020 VBS materials are now available for purchase at LifeWay.com/VBS. Any order totaling $50 or more includes free shipping. \nThe Baptist Resource Network will hold its LifeWay 2020 VBS Preview event on April 18\, 2020\, at the BRN Hub in Harrisburg. \n\nJoy Allmond is a writer for LifeWay Christian Resources.

SUMMARY:Pivot: Leadership for the Next Chapter
DESCRIPTION:What if this season we’ve been going through is not an interruption but a disruption? What if it’s not a temporary time brought on by circumstances beyond our control\, but rather a transition brought about by the one Who is in control? If it’s a temporary interruption our goal is to get out of it as quickly as possible. If it’s a transitional disruption\, our goal is to get into it as deeply as God desires\, because in times of transition God catalyzes transformation to prepare us for the next chapter. We’ll spend time talking about leading in times of transition and disruption. We’ll ask the question\, “What’s next?” And we’ll give a model for leadership development in the next chapter. \nFeaturing Dan Nold\, lead pastor of Calvary Church\, State College\, Pa. \nPastor Dan has been married to Lynn for over 30 years. As much as he loves the church\, his most significant and enjoyable achievement has been partnering with Lynn to love and develop their four kids and now one kid-in-law: Sarah\, Katy (and her husband\, Josiah)\, Jake and Josh. Dan and Lynn came to State College and Calvary in 1994. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from Bethel University and a Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary. Currently\, Dan is working on his Doctor of Ministry in Organic Leadership Development. Dan loves to preach\, develop leaders and strategize about the future of the church in the Centre region. Years ago\, Dan read a prayer by A.W. Tozer that he still prays consistently\, “Lord make me a man to whom you can entrust your glory.” That’s Dan’s greatest purpose. “I long to become a man to whom God can entrust his glory—a living display of the gospel of grace—to inflame a passion for Christ in others.” \nRegister

SUMMARY:2021 Spark Conference
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to our partners\, Georgia Baptists\, Pennsylvania/South Jersey Baptists can look forward to igniting their ministries next year at Spark 2021. The Spark Conference\, which first premiered in August 2020 and reached over 33\,000 total views on the Spark website\, will return Aug. 12\, 2021. \nFor those who took advantage of the conference in 2020\, the 2021 event will provide a similar schedule and digital format. \nCurrently\, the event will be completely online. Scott Sullivan\, GBMB discipleship catalyst and Spark coordinator\, said the first Spark Conference was born out of a desire to meet needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s online-only layout was the first of its kind hosted by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. \n“The fully virtual side of the conference is something we will do again in 2021\,” Sullivan said. “We are able to train more people and get the training down into the trenches of the local church where it needs to be when we go fully digital.” \nSullivan said the August 12 premiere will offer a full day of content with multiple keynote and breakout speakers. The theme for this year is “DREAM.” \n“The point of that is to challenge leaders to lead well now\, but spend necessary time learning to be future-tense thinkers\,” Sullivan said. “We want them to not just be overwhelmed with the present but be laying a foundation for future success.” \nTony Evans\, Ben Mandrell\, Charles Lowery\, and David Kinnaman will be the keynote speakers for the conference that will be held completely online. \n“The 2021 speakers will help us ‘understand the times’ (1 Chronicles 12:32) and dream God-sized dreams for the Church moving forward\,” Scott Sullivan\, Georgia Baptist Mission Board Discipleship catalyst and Spark coordinator\, confirmed. \n“We are very excited about providing four of the nation’s top leaders as keynotes for SPARK 2021\,” Sullivan added. \nTony Evans\nBen Mandrell\nCharles Lowery\nDavid Kinnaman\nTony Evans is the founder and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas\, Texas. He will “bring the pastor’s perspective and will speak to the heart of our leaders\,” Sullivan shared. \nBen Mandrell is the president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville\, Tenn. Mandrell is “leading one of the most significant shifts at LifeWay and will speak from a church planter’s mindset\,” Sullivan explained. \nCharles Lowery\, president and CEO of Lowery Institute for Excellence\, Inc.\, a non-profit training and consulting organization\, “will bring humor as he encourages relationships which are very much under attack during the pandemic\,” Sullivan said. \nDavid Kinnaman\, president of Barna Group\, “will share fresh research and best practices as he delivers a state of the church message\,” Sullivan added. \nIn addition to the keynotes\, breakout sessions will include tracks for discipleship\, evangelism\, missions\, and many others to be announced. \nLast year\, the conference premiered on a Friday. In 2021\, the conference is slated to premiere on a Thursday. Sullivan cited evaluations from both GBMB staff and conference attendees as a reason for the change. \n“It came from our team and several dozen pastors in the state when we asked specifically about the day and format\,” Sullivan said. “Thursdays were easier to gather staff or leaders and sit around a computer and watch the premiere.” \nThe August 12 premiere will be free like last year. However\, the content for registrants will only be free until August 31. There will be a digital pass available for purchase – $10 for an individual\, $29 for a church\, and $99 for an association. This pass gives year-long access to all Spark keynotes\, resources\, and breakout sessions. \n“The target audience for the premiere is the leader or leaders of a church\,” Sullivan said. “The larger audience comes when associations or churches host an event centered around the content from Spark.” \nIn 2020\, there were 206 host sites around the world that utilized content from the Spark Conference. As hosts for the event\, the churches and associations were able to use content from Spark weeks and months after the premiere. \nSullivan said the quality of keynotes and breakouts makes the Spark Conference a competitor with similar conferences. However\, the fact the conference is free and later offered at such a low price means it is the best-valued conference in the nation. \n“The goal for 2021 isn’t to do bigger and better\,” Sullivan said. “It’s to build on the quality of 2020.” \nTo sign up for early registration notifications\, visit thesparkconference.com.

SUMMARY:IMB Missions College
DESCRIPTION:The International Mission Board (IMB) will host Missions College on Jan. 4-7\, 2023\, near Richmond\, Virginia. \nMissions College is a training event for pastors\, church leaders\, mission trip participants and church members engaged in missions\, or people who are interested in partnering with IMB teams. Missions College centers around 11-hour learning tracks led by missionaries with extensive field experience. Participants will choose one of the following tracks: \n\nFoundations for Mission\nMissions Scope\nCross-Cultural Evangelism and Discipleship\nDisplaced Peoples\nUsing Oral Methods for Discipleship and Leadership Development\nGlobal Cities\nStrategy Coaching (for mission team leaders involved in church planting)\n\nOne of Missions College’s most popular tracks is Cross-Cultural Evangelism and Discipleship. \nCross-Cultural Evangelism and Discipleship: \nThe people we are trying to reach with the gospel have radically different perspectives on the world. Learn about worldview differences and the danger of syncretism to help you evangelize cross-culturally. Practice gospel presentations that can be adapted to different people groups\, and that you can teach to others. Also\, learn about short and long-term discipleship needs and develop a plan for discipling believers in various contexts. Led by field missionaries Joel Williams\, who serves in the Americas\, and Jeremy Hollie\, who serves in Sub-Saharan Africa. \nAlso included at Missions College are breakout sessions and daily worship times led by keynote speakers. \nParticipants will choose three of the following 90-minute breakout sessions. \n\nThe Sending Church\nCulturally Appropriate Gospel Presentations\nIntroduction to Storying\nPartnering from the Backseat: Avoiding Dependency\nShort-term Trips\nEthnodoxology\nPrayer Strategies\nCommunity Health Lessons for Short-term Trips\nGoing to the Nations with IMB\nNext Generation Missions\n\n“We are asking the Lord\, by His grace\, to use the powerful testimonies and deep experiences of our IMB field missionaries to teach and mentor Mission College participants\,” Lloyd Rodgers said. Rodgers serves as a trainer in the Americas. \nParticipants from last year shared how the Lord used the time to show how they can be involved in the missions task: \n“The biggest thing we are going to go back and share is that anyone can come here\, even lay people\, whatever position you have in your church\, you have something you can give. IMB really shows you through the breakout sessions and the classes that there are so many ways to fit in.” \n“Missions College has given me a deeper sense of the message that was given to us in Luke that we should make sure we are spreading the Word and using the tools that God has blessed us with. I’ve learned a lot.” \n“I am so excited to go back and talk about the opportunities there are to share Christ\, the opportunities we have with IMB that we’re learning about. It’s already changed me spiritually.” \nRodgers\, who is one of the event’s organizers\, added the IMB’s intent to ignite a passion for the lost in the hearts of believers. “Our desire is to see God glorified by learning the skills needed to respond cross-culturally to lostness\, the greatest problem in the world. Our prayer is that Missions College will anchor in the heart of each participant the biblical mandate to be steadfastly present among people and places where Jesus is not named or known\,” Rodgers said. \nThe cost for Missions College is $249 per person. The fee includes training\, materials\, lodging for three nights and meals. \nRegister now: https://www.imb.org/event/missions-college-2023-virginia/ For information\, please email: missionscollege@imb.org or call 804-353-0151.
