SUMMARY:Children's Mission Day
DESCRIPTION:WMU launched Children’s Missions Day in 2008 to move children in grades 1–6 out of their churches and into their communities to do missions. The goal is for children’s groups to create projects that meet needs in their own communities. \nChildren’s Missions Day (CMD) has been going strong ever since\, with people in communities across the United States hearing about and experiencing the love of Jesus because children’s groups are going beyond simply learning about missions to actively participating in missions. \nDownload resources for your church. \n

SUMMARY:Send Relief Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Send Relief is encouraging Southern Baptists everywhere to join together to meet needs and change lives through serving others across the world on Send Relief Sunday. \nHere are a few quick and easy ideas:\nFor churches: \nCreate care packages for grocery\, delivery and other essential workers. Show kindness by giving employees small bags with healthy snacks\, gift cards and other items. Include a note of thanks from your church. Your church could also consider packing bags in advance and working with the manager of a nearby grocery store to arrange delivery to all of the store’s employees. \nCollect school supplies. Although many school districts are still uncertain about how or whether to return to the classroom this fall\, one certainty is that students will need school supplies. Reach out to local principals and ask which supplies are most needed\, and then start a collection. After packing the supplies in bags\, work with your local schools to determine the best method of delivery. \nBe a prayer warrior. Make lists of people and needs specific to your church’s community\, and spend time praying\, not just for the people or their needs\, but also for God to reveal ways to provide ongoing encouragement and ministry to them. \nFor families: \nSocial distancing may prevent us from offering hugs and other expressions of personal touch or care\, but it doesn’t have to hamper our creativity when it comes to serving. \nGrab a donations box and fill it up. Help your children sort through clothes\, toys\, books and other items that are in good condition. Identify things that could be given to those less fortunate. \nSupport foster and adoptive families. An encouraging card in the mail or a meal delivered to their home can make an impact in the life of foster and adoptive families. For those in your community\, let them know that you are thinking about and praying for them. \nFor your children: \nChildren learn best and feel empowered when they engage in projects on their own. Help them get hands-on\, then stand back as they learn to give back with these ministry ideas. \nCreate thank you cards for medical personnel. Write a note of encouragement or have kids draw pictures for the medical staff at your local hospitals. \nGet crafty. Let your child create items — pasta necklaces\, painted stones\, cookies\, etc. — that they can share with neighbors\, along with a note of encouragement. \nUltimately\, it is God’s lovingkindness that draws men and women to Him (Jeremiah 31:3). Believers should seek to do this daily — but set Send Relief Sunday aside\, especially\, to be extensions of God’s lovingkindness to the world. \nVisit Sendrelief.org to find more ways your church can meet needs and change lives. \nAdapted from an article written by Gabriel Stovall of the North American Mission Board.

SUMMARY:Religious Liberty Sunday
DESCRIPTION:As the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 declares\, “A free church in a free state is the Christian ideal.” We’ve provided a free video and bulletin insert for use in your church on this Sunday. \nBaptists’ unwavering commitment to religious liberty has been a defining feature of their history and identity. From the early theological convictions of John Smyth and Thomas Helwys to the modern advocacy of the ERLC\, Baptists have consistently championed the principle that faith must be free from state coercion. As the world becomes increasingly pluralistic\, the Baptist tradition of advocating for religious liberty remains crucial. By continuing this legacy\, Baptists and others committed to religious freedom can ensure that this fundamental right is preserved and protected for future generations. \nDownload church resources.

SUMMARY:Mission:Dignity Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Since 1918\, GuideStone Financial Resources has been on a “Mission” to provide “Dignity” to retired Southern Baptist ministers\, workers and their widows. These are men and women who have faithfully served God’s people and now find themselves struggling to meet even basic needs. Many served small\, rural churches that paid only modest salaries and couldn’t afford to contribute to their pastors’ retirement. Often\, these loyal soldiers of the cross had to work extra jobs just to make ends meet. \nMission:Dignity currently helps almost 1\,800 people with extra money needed for housing\, food and vital medications. It has also ensured a well-deserved dignity\, independence and\, often\, the ability to continue serving. \nFind more information and resources here.

SUMMARY:3:16 on 3/16
DESCRIPTION:This year\, March 16 falls on a Sunday\, and the North American Mission Board’s (NAMB) evangelism team is urging Southern Baptist churches to plan a special outreach on that day with a campaign: “3:16 on 3/16.” \n“John 3:16 has been referred to as the Gospel in a nutshell. It’s probably the most widely known Bible verse in the world\,” said Tim Dowdy\, NAMB’s president of evangelism. “So\, in cooperation with our state conventions and associations\, on March 16\, we’re encouraging all SBC pastors to preach on John 3:16.” \nNAMB’s evangelism team has created a website\, 316on316.com\, that includes resources designed to help churches and pastors prepare for the Sunday. Sermon prompts\, outreach ideas and a prayer guide can help a church engage their neighbors with the Gospel in the leadup to March 16. \n*This content was provided by NAMB in an article originally published on baptistpress.com.

SUMMARY:Racial Reconciliation Sunday
DESCRIPTION:“For he is our peace\, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh\, he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations\, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two\, resulting in peace. He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death” (Ephesians 2:14-16 CSB). \n\nWe are committed to upholding the human dignity of every individual and advancing the cause of racial reconciliation. The gospel\, at its core\, is a message of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-21)\, in which we are called to love one another (1 John 4:20-21) since “Christ is all and in all” (Col. 3:11). \nThe Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) has created resources for Racial Reconciliation Sunday that are available to all SBC churches. These free\, downloadable resources include: a bulletin insert\, prayer guide\, and graphics. Access these resources here.

SUMMARY:George Liele Church Planting\, Evangelism\, and Missions Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Southern Baptists set aside the first Sunday in February to celebrate the work and leadership of Black and African American Southern Baptist missionaries and to recognize the legacy of George Liele. \nGeorge Liele is one of the most significant figures in the history of Christian missions. While William Carey is recognized as the father of the modern missionary movement\, that designation also belongs to George Liele. He was a freed Georgia slave who came to Christ in 1773\, at the age of 23. In 1782\, he and his family left the United States to share the gospel in Jamaica; a full 10 years before Carey left England. \nBelow you will find helpful resources for churches and families to learn more about George Liele and to make this special Sunday a meaningful day. On this Sunday churches are encouraged to find local opportunities to engage in service\, evangelism\, and prayer together as we continue to consider and engage in God’s call to advance the kingdom today. \nDownload resources\, including videos\, prayer guide and activities guide at https://www.imb.org/george-liele. \nLearn about or apply for the new George Liele Scholarship\, which encourages the expansion of international missions knowledge and experiences among Black and African American Southern Baptist churches here

SUMMARY:Caring Well Sunday
DESCRIPTION:To make our churches safe from abuse\, we must be proactive. Developing policies and procedures ahead of time\, training and educating staff and volunteers\, as well as partnering with abuse experts will set your church up well to be a safe place for your community. Here are five essential action steps you can implement to care well for survivors of abuse. \n1. Train:\nStatistics tell us 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys (though many believe this is much higher) are sexually abused before they turn 18. Only a small percentage of these victims ever reveal their abuse. Church leaders must help our churches understand that the mission to prevent sexual abuse and our response to it is a clear and compelling gospel issue. \n2. Screen:\nIn order to make your church safe from abuse\, it is critical to implement a thorough screening process for anyone who will have access to children\, youth\, and vulnerable adults. A careful process ensures that individuals are suitable and compatible with your church’s policies and procedures. \n3. Protect:\nOne of the ways you can protect children\, youth\, and vulnerable adults is by having solid policies and procedures in place at your church. These protect those you are serving while also protecting those that serve them. Once developed\, being intentional about following policies and procedures is imperative for the protection of everyone involved. \n4. Report:\nEvery state has laws identifying those required to report child abuse. Even if you believe you are not legally required to report child abuse in your state\, you are still encouraged to report suspected or known abuse. As followers of Jesus\, we are charged with protecting the vulnerable\, and reporting known or suspected abuse is part of that mandate. \n5. Care:\nAbuse violates the dignity of our God-given image and disrupts our voice\, sense of identity\, and sense of trust and safety in relationships. Our response in supporting survivors of sexual abuse has the opportunity to accurately reflect the mission and character of Jesus Christ. \nTo make your church safe from abuse\, church leaders must become informed about the impact of abuse and how to find the necessary supportive resources to come alongside survivors\, for the sake of the gospel. \nDownload resources for your church.
